My HOA has fining people for the most ridiculous things. 100/105 townhomes received violation letters last year. HOAs continually change the ARB regulations without getting our input, and what's worse is they changed the BY LAWS to give the BOD so much more power to change whatever they want. These control freaks must be stopped.

HB 791 is bad, bad, bad for homeowners living in HOAs! I am one of them and it scares me to see how out of control power hungry people they are! Most owners are afraid to speak out against them, but I have, and will continue.

I know I made some impact on the Board because they are now having their meetings at a public school. They fought me last year when I was a Board member and I wanted to take the annual meeting every June out of Tot Lot Parking Lot to an indoor location such as a public library or school. They even held their violation hearings in the home of the president of the HOA. They have broken so many of the property owners laws. But they didn't listen, until they started to attack another Board member after I resigned after 11 months of torture. He began to see the light from all my emails to them. He ran the ARB with the president. We've had no active ARB, rather the president walks the community with the management manager.

Thus all those new rules would be null and void, and yet they sent out the violations and forced people to comply. When voting online by the BOD, it must be unanimous to pass. My one neighbor who has a renter living there had to replace his driveway. They forced almost everyone in the community to STAIN their decks and fences and the colors had to match inside and out. There are so many others, but will not mention them here.
